New Community Gardens

We have a new offering to share with residents, and we hope you are as excited about it as we are! Starting this year, the Village of North Hudson has a community garden with plots available for lease to residents!
Last fall, our Board of Park Commissioners recommended to the Board of Trustees to leverage some of the open space in Woodcrest Park to be used as a community garden. The Board approved the recommendation and this spring our Public Works department has been working hard to make the vision a reality! One of the best parts of this new garden is the wood used to make the above ground beds is from trees that were lost in previous year's storms. The Public Works department milled the lost trees to leverage for the planters.
There are 14 plots available and will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis for this year. If we find we have a lot of interest, we will consider building more. We are starting with annual reservations but will consider allowing for multiple year reservations in future years (which would allow for perennial plants). There will be a water source available for use by the participants so there is no need to haul water. The cost to reserve a plot for the year is $20.
A complete list of rules is available upon request. If you are interested in securing a plot for this year, please send an email to Gina Alberti at galberti@northhudsonwi.gov and include your name, address, email and phone number. Plot assignments for 2025 will be made at 10:00am on Monday, May 12th so be sure to get your request in before that.
