🗳️ WISCONSIN VOTERS: KNOW THE DIFFERENCE
With election season approaching, many Wisconsin voters are receiving information about voting by mail. But not every piece of mail you receive is actually from your local election officials.
Here’s the difference between third-party voting mailers, absentee voting by mail, and in-person absentee voting.
📬 1. THIRD-PARTY VOTING MAILERS
You may receive a postcard, letter, or form encouraging you to vote absentee or telling you that you need to register. These mailers may look official, but they can come from private organizations that are not affiliated with your municipal clerk or the Wisconsin Elections Commission.
The form you receive is NOT your ballot and does not mean that your absentee ballot has already been requested or issued. Also, please carefully read the instructions; even prefilled forms still require you to take action in making sure you have an ID on file. Incomplete forms will be mailed back to you.
Because third-party organizations may have outdated or incorrect voter information, Wisconsin election officials recommend checking your information directly through the official state website.
📮 2. ABSENTEE VOTING BY MAIL
The best way to request an absentee ballot is directly through MyVote.wi.gov. You can also use the request form provided by the Wisconsin Elections Commission and drop it off or mail to your municipal clerk.
Once your request is approved, your municipal clerk sends you your official absentee ballot.
When completing it, you'll need an eligible adult U.S. citizen to serve as your witness. Your completed ballot must be returned to your municipal clerk and received by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.
🏛️ 3. IN-PERSON ABSENTEE VOTING
Wisconsin also offers in-person absentee voting. This takes place here at the Village Hall. Bring your photo ID and come during the designated hours. Please note, like absentee voting by mail, you do not actually cast your ballot. Your ballot is securely held until it can be processed by an election inspector on election day.
For the November 2026 election, in-person absentee voting will be supported during the following days and hours:
October 20–22: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
October 26-28: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
October 29: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
October 30: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
🗳️ 4. ELECTION DAY VOTING
We are incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteers who give their time to help make elections here in the Village of North Hudson run safely, smoothly, and efficiently.
On Election Day, November 3rd, we will be open from 7:00 AM–8:00 PM to welcome you and support you as you cast your vote.
👉 MyVote.wi.gov allows you to check your voter information, update your name or address, request an absentee ballot, track your ballot, find your polling place, check what's on your ballot and see your local in-person absentee voting options.
